What if you are COVID positive but no symptoms? – Voofacts!

Infected with the coronavirus but not showing symptoms?

This is known as asymptomatic covid and is particularly dangerous since a person may unknowingly disseminate the virus throughout the body.

According to recent studies, the majority of Covid-19 positive patients (more than 50%) were asymptomatic!
A person who has covid but has not exhibited symptoms (Asymptomatic) is still infectious, and the virus can transmit from them to others.

The literal definition of the word asymptomatic is "one who has no symptoms." As a result, there can be no indications of asymptomatic Covid-19 infection.

What is asymptomatic covid-19?

‘Asymptomatic’ indicates that the person is either serologically positive (through a blood test) for antibodies against the Covid-19 virus, or specifically positive (by Real-time PCR test from oropharyngeal secretions), but has no notable symptoms of a viral/other infection.
Such a person is known as an asymptomatic carrier, and he or she is capable of transferring the virus to those who are in close proximity to him or her.

According to WHO (World Health Organization):
"While someone who does not develop symptoms can transfer the virus on to others, it is unclear how frequently this occurs, and more study is needed in this area."

According to laboratory evidence, infected patients tend to be most infectious immediately before they acquire symptoms (specifically, two days before symptoms occur) and early in their illness.
People who have serious illnesses may be infectious for a longer period of time.

As a general guideline, you should ALWAYS assume you're infected as there is no reliable way to tell if someone is asymptomatic.

Quarantine Period:

Because an asymptomatic person has no visible symptom, you should be careful if you come into touch with someone who has recently traveled or visited a Covid-19 hotspot.

In such a case, you should think about being tested for the virus. If you test positive, you must isolate yourself for 14 days to prevent the infection from spreading.

You might also be pre-symptomatic!

The term "pre-symptomatic" refers to the period of time between infection and the onset of symptoms.
This is usually a day or two before the disease's symptoms appear. This stage of influenza lasts around 4 days.
Covid-19 has an average era of roughly 1.6 days.
For the first day or two, the pre-symptomatic individual is unaware that they are ill. Covid-19 usually starts shedding virus approximately 4 days after infection and becomes symptomatic about 5.6 days later.

Don't neglect these Mild symptoms...

If an infected individual simply has minor to no symptoms, he or she is said to be asymptomatic. The following are examples of minor symptoms:

  • There was a runny nose but no major respiratory concerns.
  • There is some nasal congestion, but no additional problems.
  • pink eye but no upper or lower respiratory problems.
  • Overnight fever with no acute flu-like symptoms or persistent cough (could be dry or slightly phlegmatic)
  • There was exhaustion but no respiratory problems or other flu-like symptoms.
  • Anosmia - loss of smell (possibly transient), but no other major problems.
  • You should also take the following precautions:
  • Avoid any interaction with friends and relatives, and have all necessary supplies brought to your door.
  • If you share a home with your family, they should also be tested for Covid-19.

Tips:

The majority of people are asymptomatic or have minimal symptoms!
If you experience any of the symptoms, you should consult a doctor right once.
Incorporate immune-boosting foods into your diet.
You should also think about getting a Covid-19 protection plan, which can give financial compensation if you or a family member is hospitalized as a result of Covid-19. This plan also includes coverage for all pre and post-hospitalization charges.

Diagnosis

It is true that many people with Covid-19 have no symptoms. Even if your symptoms are minor, you are categorized as an asymptomatic patient.
The only way to detect asymptomatic is to undertake diagnostic testing. PCR, quick antigen testing and rapid antibody tests are the diagnostic assays.

Aside from that, if you test negative, you should continue to take measures such as
  • wearing a mask in crowded situations,
  • washing your hands with soap and water or
  • using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, and
  • practicing basic respiratory hygiene.

If I'm asymptomatic, how will I know if I have Covid-19?

YOU MUST BE TESTED!!

If you're asymptomatic, you're fine at the very least for yourself. However, even if you are asymptomatic, you should be aware that you may be spreading it.

Conclusion

Unless you're having moderate to severe difficulties breathing or chest discomfort, don't hurry to the hospital...

Stay the hell home! - It's called self-quarantine, and it can save a lot of lives.

The rule of thumb is to ALWAYS assume you're infected and, with that assumption, act in a way to prevent it from spreading to those who may be more vulnerable for example, wear masks when leaving the house, cover your mouth with your elbow when coughing, wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds frequently, and, if possible, don't go out at all.

However, it is always preferable to get tested to be certain and to avoid spreading the virus as a carrier.
Stay at home and be safe. When you go out, wash your hands and don't forget your masks!
